Advanced performance comes from a high-output engine with a more compact size. The 416-hp 4.0L biturbo V8 is more responsive, making 100% of its 450 lb-ft of peak torque available from 2,250-4,750 rpm, for a 5.8-second 0-60 rush and instant response at any speed. And its innovative design combines racing-derived technology, from its turbocharger layout to its low-friction cylinder walls.

Interior Style & Media

Supple, smooth-grained Nappa leather is hand-fitted to the G 550 seats and head restraints.

As for entertainment features, the G 550 features a stylish and large high-resolution color display at eye level with the gauges, plus a central controller on the console, the Cockpit Management and Data (COMAND®) system gives you convenient control of audio, video, hands-free calling and optional navigation functions. Many features can also be accessed via the integrated steering-wheel controls.

An expertly engineered premium digital surround system fills the cabin with 450 watts of beautifully balanced audio. No fewer than 12 strategically placed speakers plus the rich bass of a subwoofer deliver a wholly immersive listening experience through Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound technology. Digital Dynamic Volume Control impeccably and imperceptibly maintains the sound spectrum for consistent listening pleasure in varying driving conditions.

Safety Features

An advanced system of 4 air bags offers 6-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front air bags, and side curtain air bags for all four outboard seating positions are standard.[*5] Provided at all five seats, 3-point seat belts are arguably our most important passive safety feature. If a collision exceeds a preset threshold, Emergency Tensioning Devices (ETDs) instantly remove slack from the front and rear outboard seat belts. Belt force limiters allow a slight amount of give in the ETD-equipped seat belts, to reduce the peak seat-belt forces on the occupant.
