I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz from Ray Catena Mercedes has been extremely disappointing, particularly in my dealings with Tom Cola.
I purchased the vehicle on July 7 and had it shipped to me. Initially, the sales experience went well and I was pleased with the process. Unfortunately, things changed after delivery.
Seven days after receiving the vehicle, Tom contacted me and said the insurance documentation needed to be reissued. What followed was a couple of weeks of back-and-forth communication. Tom was consistently difficult to reach and slow to return phone calls, although the insurance issue was eventually resolved.
We are now approximately six weeks from the purchase date, and I still do not have a license plate issued for the vehicle.
The most frustrating part has been the communication. Tom has become extremely unresponsive, and when I am able to get a response, the conversations have increasingly felt combative rather than focused on simply resolving the problem.
I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz from a Mercedes-Benz dealership because I expected the level of service and professionalism normally associated with the brand. I have purchased and dealt with Mercedes-Benz dealerships elsewhere and have had experiences that were dramatically better than this one.
I am not asking for anything unreasonable. I simply expect that six weeks after purchasing a vehicle, I should be able to legally drive it. Instead, I have a vehicle sitting in my driveway while I am forced to rent another vehicle because the registration and plate process still has not been completed.
Problems happen. What separates a great dealership from a poor experience is how those problems are handled after the sale. In my case, the lack of communication, follow-through, and professionalism after the purchase has been incredibly disappointing.
I hope Ray Catena Mercedes takes this feedback seriously and gets this resolved. This has not been the Mercedes-Benz ownership experience I expected.
