Where Can I Charge My Mercedes-Benz All Electric Vehicle?
You can charge your electric vehicle at home and on the road, making it easy to ensure you’ve always got plenty of power. No matter where you charge your Mercedes, the process is simple. Here’s how it works:
- Mercedes-Benz All Electric cars come with a charger port on the side of the car. That’s where you’ll attach your charging cord, which comes with your vehicle when you buy it, or the chargers found at public charging stations.
- When you’re ready to charge, plug in the charger until you hear a click. You’ll know charging has begun because the lights on either side of the plug will turn from orange to blue.
- When you’re done, press the release button and pull out the charger. That’s all there is to it!
When at home, you can charge your vehicle overnight so it’s always ready to drive. But what happens when you’re on the road – how do you “fill up” your Mercedes-Benz All Electric vehicle?
Charging on the Road with Mercedes me Charge
Mercedes has developed an innovative system that simplifies on-the-go charging – it’s called Mercedes me Charge.
Mercedes me Charge is the official charging network for Mercedes-Benz All Electric drivers, and it’s one of the best in the world. In the United States, drivers can charge using over 60,000 electric charging stations, including 2,600 DC fast chargers, so you’re never far from power. And the network is always growing.
Activate Mercedes me Charge on your Mercedes me connect app on your phone in one click. Once you’re set up, you can manage everything from that one app. Instead of creating multiple accounts for different charging stations and using multiple payment methods, you can find stations, compare prices, view your history, and pay through Mercedes me Charge.
To use the network while on the road, locate a station on your MBUX Navigation system or the Mercedes me Charge app. You can even compare prices and pay ahead if you want.
Once you select a station, your vehicle’s navigation will direct you to the location. Your MBUX system also alerts you well in advance of a fully drained battery, so you never have to worry about running low.
How Long Does It Take to Fully Charge a Mercedes EV?
It can take anywhere from half an hour to a full day to charge your Mercedes electric vehicle. The speed of the charge depends on the charging level you use.
Mercedes has defined three charging levels: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3.
- Level 1 is a 120-volt AC charge. It’s what you get when you plug your Mercedes-Benz All Electric into any normal outlet in your home. It takes about 24 hours to get a full charge with a Level 1 charge.
- Level 2 is a 240-volt AC charge. You can install a wall-mounted charge box at your home to create an at-home Level 2 charge. Also, public charging stations offer at least a Level 2 charge. It can take up to 12 hours to get a full charge with a Level 2 charger.
- Level 3 is also called a DC fast charge. It offers anywhere from 400 to 900 volts and uses a larger plug and socket (the larger socket is on your car, simply remove the rubber plug to use). You can go from 10% to 80% power in about 31 minutes with a Level 3 charge.
For most drivers, charging overnight is more than enough to power your car each day. However, you can top up your vehicle at work using charging stations. For road trips, you’ll be able to rely on the Mercedes me Connect network on the way and use your charging cord overnight once you reach your destination.
