2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS – Features & Specs Review

Buyers should find that the 2023 GLS starts at $78,000. This will rise to $100,000 for the GLS 580, and at least $140,000 for the AMG® GLS 63.

Mercedes-Benz is putting the new 2023 GLS together at their plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Tests found that the base trim level GLS achieves 30.7 MPG, while the AMG® models are less fuel efficient, dropping to 22.1 MPG.

There aren’t too many differences between the 2022 GLS and the new model for 2023. So, if you’ve recently invested in one of Mercedes-Benz’s GLS SUVs, you probably don’t need to be trading it in for a brand new version just yet. There are some changes, however, and they signal the future-focused direction the manufacturer is heading in. Like other G-Wagen lines, the GLS has received a new and improved infotainment console experience, with updated graphics and functionality. There has been some minor exterior cosmetic work, and a new steering wheel, but not too much else. The GLS is certainly worth the price, but if you have a 2022 model, you might want to stick with that for a little while longer.

Although all vehicles depreciate in value over time, the GLS holds its value fairly well, but perhaps not quite as well as other models in the G-Wagen series. You can expect the vehicle to retain somewhere between 43% and 49% of its purchase value after three years (12,000 miles a year), although this will vary depending on the trim.

Safety is always the priority for Mercedes-Benz, and this is certainly still the case on the 2023 GLS, although there are no new safety features.

The new model has received updated graphics for its multimedia infotainment system, and the manufacturers have shown how serious they are about the onboard experience.

Metallic paint as standard is the only significant change in this area, but it certainly enhances the exquisite design of the GLS.

There are no major changes to performance, which remains as strong as ever for the latest model year. The AMG® version does sacrifice some of the fuel economy of the lower trim levels, however.

The GLS has received a few minor touches this year, with the new sunroof and steering wheel complementing the inherent luxury that characterizes the SUV’s design.
