Mercedes-Benz has opted for an ‘if it ain’t broke’ approach for the GLE this model year. While other entries in the G-Wagen series have experienced major overhauls – including the all-new GLC vehicle – not so much has changed on the GLE from this time last year. Drivers get to enjoy a tuned-up and tweaked version of the features they loved on last year’s model, while a few aesthetic flourishes have been made more accessible – for example, you’ll now get metallic paint as standard.

A new GLE model is always going to generate a bit of excitement among Mercedes-Benz drivers, especially those who prefer their SUVs robust but with a sporty edge. We’ve compiled a few frequently asked questions as a handy primer.

The 2023 GLE starts at $57,700 for the 350 model, rising to $60,200 for the 350 4MATIC®. 450 4MATIC® and 580 4MATIC® models are priced at $66,450 and $83,850, respectively. The AMG® GLE 63 S is the highest-priced model in the line, at $120,000.

The new GLE is manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Ratings suggest that the new GLE gets 20 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. Higher-spec models – like the 450 – are able to achieve the same fuel efficiency, making up the additional horsepower boost through hybrid components.

The GLE hasn’t received a significant overhaul on the 2022 model, so if you’ve bought a GLE in the last few years, it might not quite be time for an upgrade. However, if not, it’s certainly worth looking at. Impressive performance even at its most basic configuration and a wealth of interior tech, including the MBUX Infotainment system, make this an excellent choice. It also looks great, inside and out.

The GLE has typically held its value just as well as you might expect the average vehicle to. After dropping significantly over the first year, the value curve eases off, and the GLE should still retain between 55% and 60% of its value after five years.

The 2023 GLE comes with Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX Infotainment system, a state-of-the-art piece of tech designed to enhance the experience for drivers and passengers.

The primary update for the GLE this model year is in its aesthetic. Metallic paint is provided as standard for the first time in the GLE’s history.

The latest GLE is really turning heads when it comes to performance and fuel economy. The 450, for example, hits 60 in only 5.3 seconds but retains the good levels of fuel efficiency displayed by the 350 thanks to hybrid technology.

Mercedes-Benz interiors are always something to behold, and the latest GLE is certainly no exception here. With plenty of legroom and headroom, the GLE offers sumptuous comfort for passengers and driver, supported by insulation that provides a whisper-quiet ride.
