The G-Class is something of a departure from the rest of the Mercedes-Benz range of luxury vehicles. Altogether more rugged, robust, rough and ready than the E-Class Cabriolet or even the tough GLB SUV, the G-Class is a true off-road all-rounder, with the capability and aesthetic to match. For 2023, the plan is more tune-up and facelift than complete redesign, and the vehicle’s grille, fender, and headlamps have all received a touch-up. In terms of tech, though, it’s different. Expect to be greeted by the MBUX Infotainment system when you step inside, as the solution makes its G-Class debut.

Pricing for the 2023 G-Class looks like to start at $139,900 for the 550 trim level.

All G-Class vehicles are manufactured at Mercedes-Benz’s plant in Graz, Austria.

We don’t currently have information on the fuel economy of the new G-Class. Traditionally, G-Class vehicles have not been particularly economical, although recent year models have achieved 30+ miles per gallon.

For fans of more rugged 4x4s rather than the sleeker, sportier modern SUVs, the G-Class is certainly worth buying. An iconic look and a whole lot of power, updated with a few aesthetic touches and a major smart tech overhaul, make the 2023 G-Class very exciting indeed.

What are the New Features of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Vehicles in the G-Class range have a sterling reputation when it comes to safety, with airbags and curtaining deployed in key positions within the interior, as well as a range of autonomous emergency braking pre-sets depending on driving profile. Lane assist, blind spot monitors, and a variety of alerts are also all present and correct.

The G-Class has been one of the last Mercedes-Benz lines to receive the manufacturer’s proprietary MBUX Infotainment system, a suite of touchscreen tech that revolutionizes the driving experience. The inclusion of the system is a major milestone for the 2023 model.

Side exit exhausts, updated grilles, fenders, and head and tail lamps, all contribute to a stunning package of good looks. The G-Class always held icon status in terms of design, and the 2023 model is further reinforcement of that.

Figures are not yet available, but Mercedes-Benz has hinted that some of the most significant changes to the G-Class are found under the hood, suggesting better-than-ever levels of performance.

The inclusion of the MBUX Infotainment system means Mercedes-Benz has had to return to the drawing board when it comes to the interior. While we can expect many of the same luxury flourishes we’ve seen on recent models, the improved ergonomics of the touchscreen technology will be a significant step forward to the 2023 model.
