2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

Unveiling the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

America has been waiting for Mercedes-Benz to make its mark on the all-electric vehicle market. That wait ends this year with the 2022 EQS sedan, the flagship of the brand’s electric future.

Everything about the Mercedes-Benz EQS is engineered to be powerful, efficient, and revolutionary—from unprecedented aerodynamics, to the 56” MBUX Hyperscreen that blankets nearly the entire dashboard on select versions of the EQS.

EV Innovation & Performance

Redefining Electric Driving — The EQS sedan is more aerodynamic than any other major model in automotive history (with a drag coefficient of 0.20Cd). Built with a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery, the EQS is capable of traveling over 400 miles on a single charge. Many charging stations can provide a rapid charge in just 15 minutes. Plus, Mercedes-Benz Electric Intelligence automatically gives you information to plan your drive, accounting for topography, weather conditions, and the locations of charging stations.

High-Tech & Luxury Features

The Inside Experience — The electric cousin of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the EQS sedan gives you all the comfort and amenities you expect from Mercedes-Benz, plus several unique luxury and digital features. Most notable is the MBUX touchscreen dashboard, a curved glass panel that stretches from door to door. In addition, the EQS gives you seamless capabilities in navigation, entertainment, charging, phone, and connectivity. The EQS luxury experience even includes automatic doors and massage seating.

Features & Specs Review

The 2022 EQS, for sale this year at Ray Catena Mercedes-Benz of Edison, has kept industry experts in anticipation since it was first announced. Its curvature is engineered to streamline through the air with incredible efficiency. Its luxurious cabin interior is built with ultramodern features and premium textiles.

As the EQS is the first all-electric model in the Mercedes-EQ lineup to hit the US market, Mercedes-Benz has been working meticulously to not just refine the engineering of the electric vehicle itself, but also to create intuitive apps, innovative connectivity, and a unique design interface.

The EQS sedan is anticipated to start at around $96,000.

If you’re on the road, Mercedes-Benz Electric Intelligence will automatically tell you the location of nearby charging stations. New stations are being built every day throughout New Jersey and across America. A DC rapid charging station (200kW) like ChargePoint will boost your vehicle’s battery from 10 – 100% in just 31 minutes. With over 125,700 public charging stations, many ChargePoint stations are free.

You can charge your Mercedes-Benz EQS from any domestic wall outlet (known as level 1 charging) if you need to. It is more efficient to install a level 2 charger wherever you normally park your vehicle. Level 2 charging outlets use 240V and charge significantly faster ( from 0-100% in approximately 11.25 hours).

All-electric vehicles outperform gas-powered vehicles when it comes to torque and acceleration. Due to the electric drive system, the reaction can happen instantaneously, which cannot be said for the typical gas engine.

Yes. Once you experience the Mercedes-Benz EQS, nothing else will compare. A relative of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class family, the 2022 new EQS sedan is the brand’s first all-electric vehicle to be sold in the US. Already establishing itself as an industry icon, the EQS will turn heads with its unrivaled design language and advanced technology. Equipped with the newest generation of lithium-ion batteries, the first Mercedes-Benz EQ all-electric vehicle has been designed with a higher energy density, allowing for an increased range.

Features of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan

Piquing the interest of automotive trend-watchers worldwide, Mercedes-Benz presents the latest evolution of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which will be exclusive to the EQS 580. The 56” instrument panel with curved glass spans the entire length of the dash and seamlessly merges three screens, with a “zero-layer” user interface.

Leading the industry with its unprecedented AI, your MBUX will make customized suggestions for infotainment, navigation, connectivity, and massage, without the need to scroll or use voice commands.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS will be available for purchase in two trim levels.

The base model is the EQS 450+, which is rear-wheel drive (RWD) and estimated to accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds. With an electric motor mounted on its rear axle, the EQS 450+ puts out 329 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.

The higher trim level, the EQS 580 4MATIC®, is all-wheel drive (AWD), with a total output of 516 HP, 611 lb-ft of torque, and the ability to go to 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

Both trim levels in the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS family are powered with a substantial 107.8-kWh battery capacity, reliably providing more than 300 miles of driving range and over 400 miles in optimal conditions.

AC Charging (240V) through a level 2 wall box will take approximately 11.25 hours and, in most cases, adds 15-30 miles for each hour spent charging. A DC rapid charging station (200kW) will boost your vehicle’s battery from 10 – 100% in just 31 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz’s brand new Active Ambient Lighting offers 64 hues to choose from, with an exclusive EQ-Specific Color Scheme. Other features such as the multi-contour front seats with integrated massage functionality, 4-Zone Climate Control, and the Panoramic Sunroof leave you ending your journey even more refreshed than when you started out.

The Active Parking Assist with its 360-degree View Camera means maneuvering has never been easier. Whether you’re parallel parking on a busy city side street or backing up down a tight driveway, your Mercedes-Benz EQS is with you every step of the way and provides additional confidence during potentially stressful situations. Additional driver packages such as Active Lane Keeping and Blind Spot Assist add semi-autonomous functionality on long or tiring commutes.

As “Best Interior” winner, awarded by the British TopGear.com Electric Awards 2021, the interior of the EQS sedan takes cues from the closely related S-Class. The exterior, however, takes an entirely new and different direction that doesn’t follow traditional long-hood internal-combustion layouts of many traditional luxury vehicles.

Manufactured on Mercedes-Benz’s platform for large EVs, the EQS sedan is inspired by cab-forward proportions and has been given a “one-bow” design, with the wheels pushed out for an assertive stance. Mercedes-Benz has equipped this brand new model with up to 516 HP and 611 lb-ft of torque

Brand new for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQSs are the two-tone paint options for the car’s exterior. As standard, the EQS sedan will feature many of the same interior design features as the new S-Class, with customizable upholstery colors and veneers for the dashboard and center console. The EQS seats up to five passengers.

Noteworthy safety features in the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS are Active Parking Assist, Adjustable Regenerative Braking, and Active Highbeam Assist.
